An exterior donor recognition program at Youkey Education Plaza
The Youkey Education Plaza was dedicated in honor of Dr. Jerry Youkey, Dean of the USC Medical School at Greenville, and his wife Sharon Youkey, for their tireless support of medical education. It supplies a tasteful new horizon for exterior recognition on the beautiful Greenville Hospital System campus. The exterior program will mean greater opportunity for recognition for both the new medical school and the GHS Foundation.
The challenge was to create an exterior recognition program to coordinate with a long-standing interior program.
The exterior program that was on the books was outdated and never used. The specifications and guidelines contained there proved to be unworkable. In addition, recent marketing and branding changes had moved away from the original colors and materials specified. But it still needed to “mesh”.

Heurista sourced new materials and presented options that kept the spirit, and more importantly the specs for sizing and placement, in place. In keeping with recent decisions on portraits, we used the Imagecast process from Matthews Bronze instead of the old bas relief method. We went with an anodized halftone photo engraving from another vendor and an exterior art frame custom built from a third. With this successful mix of sources, we were able to produce a winning and handsome exterior recognition for the Youkey Education Plaza that met the time constraints, budget and look they were after.
