Christ School Athletic Hall of Fame

The Athletic Hall of Fame, housed in the indoor athletic facility at Christ School is receiving a lot of positive press, both for the amenities it provides and the historic storytelling it offers to the school community. A private Episcopal college preparatory boarding and day school for boys in Asheville, North Carolina, Christ School is proud of its athletic training programs, the competitive spirit of the student-athletes, and the Greenies success on the playing field. Heurista was referred for this work by one of the architects on the project. We contributed content development, design, and project management for the highly branded graphics throughout the facility, including an historical timeline, key rivalry stories, various recognition displays, and custom-built exhibit casework. Heurista partnered with Christ School alumni and specialty fabricator Nathan Ruffin, CEO of Hammerhead Design Build in Winston Salem, NC to execute the designs.

“My old school has changed an incredible amount; there is no way to overstate that. I am extremely proud of Christ School. You always want your School to be the best and work with the best. They found it with Heurista! The new athletic facilities are first class, and you can see we made sure it was right in every detail. Go Green!!”

- Nathan Ruffin, 2011 Christ School graduate and project lead for Hammerhead Design Build LLC

Sports History Timeline

The sports history timeline showcases a legacy of athletic accomplishment in a continual, full color, floor to ceiling wall graphic, highlighted by archival photos, prominent events and dates, and major milestones. A big story needs a big canvas!

Sports Rivalry Story, Photo Wall and Light-blocking Curtains

Further into the Hall of fame area, a graphic wall covering relates the historic rivalry between Christ School and Asheville School. Opposite that, a video screen shows news, scheduling and sports videos, and the wall is adorned with a pattern of the Greenies signature color and sports logos; a perfect backdrop for press conferences, award ceremonies, and interviews.

In the indoor practice field, the windows are hung with curtains that protect the windows and shield the practice field from sunlight. Heurista designed the giant athletic figures printed on the curtains.

Division 1 Athletes Recognition Display

Along the dressing rooms hall, Heurista designed a custom gallery to honor the Christ School athletes who have gone on to play NCAA Division 1 sports. The gallery frames are of matte aluminum, set against the Greenie green wall. The construction allows for easy modification, and has plenty of room for more athletic stars.

Christ School Hall of Fame and Athletic Cup Award Winners Displays

Beside the offices for the coaching staff are mounted a set of contemporary custom brushed aluminum frames. These hold aluminum ACM panels with direct print graphics that are magnetically retained and easily updated. The names of Hall of Fame inductees and Athletic cup winners are added each year.

The Hall of Fame also includes two large custom built floor to ceiling pedestal style display cases. Another case holds “the old score board”, used for many, many years and well-recognized by parents and alumni alike. The case even has hidden doors that allows a coach to set the score on the historic board to reflect the latest win!
